As part of our commitment to nurturing emerging talent in the region, Books by LR is offering one (1) remote paid internship for an initial three month period. This internship is designed for individuals passionate about Caribbean literature, publishing, and digital storytelling.
The purpose of this internship is to provide hands-on experience in the publishing industry while supporting the creative and operational work of Books by LR. The intern will contribute to real projects, develop practical literary and digital skills, and gain insight into the inner workings of a small independent Caribbean press.
Key Responsibilities
The selected intern will support the Books by LR team in the following areas:
Literary & Editorial Support
• Assist with manuscript review and basic editorial feedback
• Support proofreading and quality checks
• Conduct research to support authors and publishing projects
Content Creation & Storytelling
• Draft blog posts, social media captions, and short articles
• Assist with storytelling concepts for marketing campaigns
• Help develop creative content that highlights Caribbean authors and books
Marketing & Digital Engagement
• Support social media planning and scheduling
• Assist with email newsletter content
• Help design simple graphics or visuals for online promotion
• Participate in online community engagement and reader outreach
Administrative & Project Support
• Attend virtual meetings as required
• Assist with tracking project timelines and deliverables
• Support general publishing tasks as assigned
Eligibility Criteria
Required Knowledge & Qualifications:
o Evidence of proficiency in English Language and/or English Literature
o Strong interest in Caribbean writing, culture, and publishing
o Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
o Good communication and organizational skills
Location & Technical Requirements:
Applicants must:
o Be based in the Caribbean
o Have access to a desktop or laptop
o Have stable internet with at least:
o 100 Mbps download
o 10–20 Mbps upload
This ensures smooth video meetings, screen sharing, and cloudbased work.
Duration & Working Hours:
o Three (3) months
o 5–8 hours per week, flexible scheduling
